The firm primarily sells men's, women's, and children's apparel and accessories, cosmetics, fragrances, and home furnishings, and various other consumer goods. Private label brands offered by the company include Alfani, Aqua, Bar III, Belgique and many others. The company employs a total of around 90,000 people. Macy's history can be traced to 1858 when founder Rowland H Macy opened the R. H Macy & Co. dry goods store in New York City. The firm’s historic flagship store in Manhattan's Herald Square has held the title of world's largest department store since 1924.
